Press release from the Castro Valley Unified School District: CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Each year the Castro Valley Unified School District selects one teacher as the CVUSD's Alameda County Teacher of the Year and two teachers as the Masonic Teachers of the Year. Nancy Galloway, the Physical Education Teacher at Jensen Ranch Elementary School, has been selected as CVUSD's Alameda County Teacher of the Year. Jessica Labang from Chabot Elementary School and Diane De Young from Canyon Middle School have been selected as the Masonic Teachers of the Year. Teachers nominated for these awards demonstrate outstanding service to students and their school community and display exemplary leadership in supporting a positive school climate. Teachers are nominated by their peers and a district committee makes the final selection. "Our teachers work tirelessly to support students and families. The five categories include: Child Nutrition; Maintenance, Operations and Facilities; Office and Technical; Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance; Support Services and Security; and Transportation.
