Description

Press release from the University of Alaska Anchorage: April 22, 2022 On February 14, UAA co-hosted a webinar entitled "Beyond Land Acknowledgements." This nationally broadcast event featured noted Alaska Native educators and represented a collaboration of UAA's Difficult Dialogues Initiative, the Difficult Dialogues National Center, and U Penn. The webinar drew well over 1200 participants. As the next installment in this series, we're pleased to offer a podcast featuring Unangan Elder Ilarion Merculieff and Libby Roderick, Director of UAA's Difficult Dialogues Initiative. In it, they explore issues related to indigenizing education and reference "Stop Talking: Indigenous Ways of Teaching and Learning and Difficult Dialogues in Higher Education," a book that is one of the cornerstones of Difficult Dialogues pedagogy at UAA. This press release was produced by the University of Alaska Anchorage. The views expressed here are the author's own.
