Description
Hello! I'm writing this on behalf of my grandmother. About a month ago, my grandma rescued a dog from the Oceanside Human Society. She is a 5-year-old, 50lb beagle/shepherd mix. She is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on shots, potty trained, rides excellently in a car, walks perfectly on a leash, and received a clean bill of health from our vet a week or so ago. She is very, very sweet and has a very calm demeanor. The Human Society told us she had severe separation anxiety. This is absolutely true, but it wasn't an issue for my grandma because she rarely leaves home. If left alone, she howls nonstop. Even when with her family, she whimpers a lot, but we are unsure why. The Human Society told us she did chew some furniture when left home alone at a foster's house at one point, but she has never destroyed anything of my grandmother's. The Human Society told us she was great with other dogs, but unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case. Although friendly at times, she has shown aggression at other times to neighbor dogs and my own two dogs (at my house, not my grandmother's). She bit both of my dogs (who are 8 and 9 and have never shown aggression) unprovoked at different times at my house. When she attacked/bit my dogs, the second I grabbed her collar she went back to her sweet/calm self, so she seems to show zero aggression towards humans. This weekend, there was an unfortunate accident where the dog pulled my grandma off of her bike after she saw another dog and charged at it, resulting in sending my grandma to the ER via ambulance with a bad head injury. My grandma loves the dog and doesn't want to get rid of her, but she is not strong enough to keep her. My grandma does not want to send her back to a "cage" at the Human Society, so I told her I would try to find her a nice home to go to, which is why I'm writing this. I'm trying to be completely transparent and honest about what kind of dog she is. 95% of the time, she is a great dog. She is extremely loyal and is always by your side. She is low energy in the home, but loves to chase the ball and roll in the grass. She also loves to give puppy kisses and spend time outside. She never barks (but does whimper/howl). But as mentioned, she at times shows aggression and cannot be left alone. We believe she would do well in a house with a yard for her to play in and with an owner who has experience handling this type of dog and can offer her some training. If you are interested or have any question at all, please feel free to text me: 76O-8O3-9818. There is no rehoming fee. Thank you!
