NORTH READING, MA — North Reading reported 35 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in town, as of Tuesday. One person has dies of the virus in town. Thirteen cases have recovered, and the health department continues to monitor 21 cases. In response to the coronavirus public health emergency, the Select Board made the following modifications to billing issued by town: Real estate and personal property taxes due May 1st are now due June 1st.Real estate and personal property taxes due May 1st, after credit is given for the preliminary tax payments previously made, are now due June 1st.Any preliminary tax requiring a third quarter preliminary installment payment due May 1st is now due June 1st.Taxes assessed for omitted property (G.L.c.59, §75) or incorrectly valued property (G.L.c.59, §76) due on May 1st are now due June 1st, 2020.Applications for exemption of taxes due April 1st are now due June 1st.Payment of interest and other penalty in the event of late payment of any excise, tax, betterment assessment or apportionment, water rate, or other charge added to a tax for any payments with a due date on or after March 10 is waived as long as payment is made by June 30Gov. Charlie Baker said Wednesday the state "is still on the upward slope of this pandemic." Across the state, there has been a total of 433 deaths and 16,790 cases.
