Are you a band leader in need of a versatile male vocalist? Do you want to complete your band with a lead vocalist who can entertain your audience through different styles of music? Is your calendar fully booked but missing that reliable lead vocalist that you feel confident will please your clients and followers? Do you worry that most singers you hire will be inexperienced, high maintainance, or have a prima-donna attitude? Hi, I'm Jet and I'm a Filipino singer. Filipinos are some of the best singers on the planet, but not for reasons you might think… It's not because of some special DNA or gene… Many of the world’s hardest working cover bands consist of Filipino singers and musicians. From cruise ships, casinos, to resorts… you will find Filipinos in these bands. And some Filipino singers even become pretty well-known in the west. Singers like Arnelle Pineda (Journey), Allan Pineda Lindo and Jaime Gomez (Black Eyed Peas), and of course Bruno Mars. Why are Filipinos such great singers? Here are the top three reasons based on my experience… 1. Within our culture there are a lot of poor to middle class people who see singing as a way to elevate themselves both financially and socially. When a child shows a singing talent, families immediately begin to support and encourage them to nurture the talent and pursue a career in music. When that talent is nurtured it helps the whole family and our communities. 2. We LOVE music of the 70’s and 80’s where the singers were high quality, incredible singers. The Michael Boltons, Whitney Houston's, and Steve Perrys of popular music. Growing up in America, I noticed that most American kids thought their music was cheesy. They usually preferred Bob Dylan or Neil Young. But we Filipinos adore and daily practice songs by high end vocalists… 3. Every household has a karaoke machine. We sing literally every night, just for the love and happiness of it. Karaoke is deeply embedded in our culture. We sing at home and at every party (we always find an excuse to celebrate). Filipinos will get up and sing in front of people anytime. Security guards on shift, pedestrians walking on the street can be found singing. You can hear the sounds of people singing karaoke just walking anywhere. No other culture in the world where live singing is such a part of daily life. It’s a natural daily practice for us that is a major part of our culture So now you know the 3 things that make Filipino singers great… but I also want to tell you why Filipinos are great to work with… In our culture, it is considered comical to have a bloated ego. We are everyday people trying to survive… who just love to be happy and get along. We are also deeply religious and we value humility especially under God. When someone has an inflated sense of self, we consider it kinda funny because we know that person will have a hard time because of his ego and lack of humility. Filipinos can be found all over the service and hospitality industries… A great number of us are nurses, hotel attendants, or caretakers… I believe this stems from our way of life which is very family and community oriented. It is part of our daily family life to practice helpfulness and service to others. I feel proud (and humbled) to be a Filipino and a professional singer… With Jet Deleon, you will have: * 15+ years experience… cover bands, rock bands, funk bands, tribute bands, jazz bands, choir, musical theater, night clubs, corporate events, festivals, private parties, funerals, church services, and weddings… so you can have peace of mind knowing your vocalist is well-seasoned… * A disciplined band mate. As a Filipino, casual singing has always been a part of my day to day life. But I'm also a trained musician that plays keyboard, ukulele, and guitar. I transcribe songs all the time just for fun. You can send me a recording or a chart and I will show up to the gig prepared and ready to perform… so you can save time and money on endless rehearsals and go directly to paid work… * Filipino-style positive attitude and Mabuhay… which means “good life”. It is our general attitude that we be of service to others, and show gratitude to our Creator and love our friends and family. It's incredibly important for me to live in such a way that makes God, my family, and my country proud of me… so you can enjoy a truly rewarding career without the risk of unnecessary drama, embarrassment, or damage to your reputation… Does this sound like something you'd be interested in? Would you like someone like this on your team? If you are ready to add a high quality member to your band and meet your scheduled gigs with some peace of mind, please reply with your… 1. Name 2. Video/Audio of current band 3. Dates that you need vocals 4. Any specific needs/desires or questions … I will reply ASAP Here is a link to some of my audio: www.bandmix.com/jet Thank you for reading this far! I hope to work with you to bring love and entertainment to the world, and to create a long lasting mutually rewarding relationship… God bless and Mabuhay!
