A tribute concert for Aunty Geri Kuhia who has for decades served our community with her time, talent and heart. Hoʻano o ko Makou Kupuna - Honoring our KupunaWe have enjoyed the traditional Hawaiian and contemporary island music from Aunty Geri Kuhia for decades. Our community has been blessed with her God given talents. It is now time to give her well deserved recognition. Island born entertainers now living in Northern California lead off the afternoon tribute. Steven Espaniola and Faith Ako offer a delightful musical makana of aloha you will enjoy. These Hawaiian music award artist bring their special brand of music for our enjoyment. Faith Ako is originally from Aunty Geriʻs home town of Laʻie. Hot Hawaiian Strums:"In this class with Music Award winner Faith Ako you will learn some basic Hawaiian strum patterns and a few basic steps on the ukulele. Here you have the rare opportunity to learn authentic Hawaiian style from a local native Polynesian who is also a professional musician. "We will work on how to coordinate your strumming with specific tunes to create an island sound. You will be introduced to the Island chant and pulse and be able to parallel these to some individual tunes. A great start to form and shape a beautiful Hawaiian tune, I promise you. Got some great charts for you to look and take photos of as well.
