Please join BERC for an event about the future of nuclear energy in a decarbonized future! Please join the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) for an event on Wednesday, May 4th about the future of nuclear power in our decarbonization pathway! Event Location: U.C. Berkeley Richard & Rhoda Goldman School of Public Policy, Room 105 (East Building) We will be joined by: Rick Griffith - Panelist: With more than 11 years of military and federal experience in nuclear engineering and business operations, Rick is currently an MBA candidate at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Rick graduated with a BS in Control Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2010, after which he commissioned in the Navy as a submarine officer. He later transitioned to a program manager position for the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) Program, and then served as a program coordinator and later Director at the Office of Naval Reactors, a joint Department of Navy/Department of Energy Dinara Ermakova - Panelist: Dinara is a Ph.D. student under Professor Wainwright and Professor Abergel at the U.C. Berkeley Nuclear Engineering program. She earned my Masters in Materials Science from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Moscow, Russia, and her Bachelors in Nuclear Physics from Eurasian National University, Astana, Kazakhstan. Her research interests are in nuclear waste policy, groundwater contaminant transport and environmental impact of the deep geologic repository. Jon Thompson - Faciliator: Jon is currently an MBA candidate at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, passionate about the role of technology in social good. Prior to Haas, Jon worked at Deloitte, advising large US government agencies on strategic technology and operational solutions. This event will start promptly at 5:10pm PST. We will have time for audience Q&A at the end.
