Anyone Know How to Research Phone Numbers?

I'm having someone contact me multiple times from a phone number without identifying themselves. Without going into exhaustive detail- I've tried multiple attempts to discover identity of person- from asking to seeking police intervention- all to no avail. Does anyone know how to find identity of person from phone number? Note: I am NOT looking to hear any unsolicited unwanted "good advice" such as "let it go'' or "don't worry about it" or something else cliche and unasked for. Only looking to hear from those who can look up a number. Thanks in advance to who can and is willing to truly do this!
