Press release from the Town of North Andover: December 11, 2020 MassDOT announced that the Town of North Andover has been awarded a grant in the amount of $200,926 as part of its Shared Streets and Spaces Grant Program. The grant will support construction of 1,100 new linear feet of sidewalk along Main Street (between Elm and Garden) in order to provide better and safer connections among a number of key civic uses: Stevens Memorial Library, North Andover Middle School, St. Michaels Church and School, as well as downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. "The Town will continue to prioritize projects that improve residents' quality of life and provide safety and connectivity enhancements along streets" said Town Manager Melissa Murphy Rodrigues. "The Town thanks MassDOT for providing this imperative funding." This project will help to advance strategies and elements of the Town's Master Plan, including to "Evaluate sidewalk gaps and prioritize new sidewalks based on their ability to connect residents to schools, activity centers, civic spaces, and recreation and open spaces in town.
