Interested in adopting healthy hermit crabs? I got you covered!
All I require is proof of proper set up per the Crabstreetjournal.org
or Crab Central Station on YouTube.
If you have questions about how to properly set up and care for hermit crabs, feel free to reach out. I will absolutely help you out.
Things you need to know:
Hermit crabs are wild caught, so they are wild animals. Every hermit crab you've ever seen in a store was abducted from the wild.
This is why they don't last very long in captivity, they are fragile.
My hermit crabs are not, they are extremely healthy.
Hermit crabs can live 40+ years with proper care (search Jonathan the Hermit Crab).
Hermit crabs need semi-elaborate set-ups to thrive. None of the products advertised for them will sustain them.
They are display only pets. Strictly hands off.
They spend months at a time buried under the sand, molting. At this time you can not dig them up or move the tank.
They need 80% humidity to breathe, and need to be kept at 80° year round.
For these reasons and more, hermit crabs are NOT children's pets. I will not adopt crabs out for young children.
Hermit crabs are one of the coolest exotic pets I've encountered. They are unique, and intriguing, and never cease to surprise me. We are learning more about them every year. If you like a challenge, shoot me an email.
