Join us on April 26th to watch the finalists compete for their chance to win $25K for their startup! On April 26th, CBK Ventures is hosting its first Pitch Competition, offering underrepresented Philadelphia entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their idea to a panel of knowledgeable business leaders and secure funding, bringing their tech-based startup to the next level. Through a partnership including 1Philadelphia, Coded by Kids, Plain Sight Capital, and the City of Philadelphia, the pitch competition will invest in promising, early-stage entrepreneurs who have historically been shut out from traditional funding sources. Twelve finalists have been selected to win five prizes, ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 in funding. Event Schedule 5:30-6:00 PM: Networking and Reception6:00-7:30 PM: Pitch Competition7:30-8:00 PM: Prize Announcements and Closing RemarksWith funding provided by the City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce through the PHL: Most Diverse Tech Hub initiative, the event includes participating partners: Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Comcast NBCUniversal, Comcast LIFT Labs, PACT, Brevity, the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the African-American Chamber of Commerce, Cozen O’Connor, and CIC Philadelphia. In addition to providing awards, partners will also act as judges for the competition. “Philadelphia has so many brilliant individuals with startup ideas, and this is an excellent opportunity to get a few of those initiatives off the ground,” said Heloise Jettison of the City of Philadelphia Commerce Department. “We’re committed to making sure that as our business community grows, it grows equitably; and there’s no better way to do that than directly supporting Black and Brown founders in our city.”
