Buyers are expected to flock to Cordelia Villages in search of bargains, some arriving early Saturday – around 7 a.m. Residents who are prepared for the early hunt are often sold out by noon Saturday.
The sale continues Sunday, often with more buyers cruising the neighborhood than there are sellers open to sell their wares.
For many years there used to be a coordinator who collected a fee from participating sellers to pay for advertising and to create lists of participating households for the buyers. Now, with the advent of free internet advertising, there no longer is a fee to participate as a seller. A few residents publish free ads and that is enough to keep the stream of bargain hunters returning every first weekend in May.
Sellers from other cities often come and set up at the parkway along Oakbrook Drive, the busiest street.
Some participating streets: Mission Circle, Hummingbird Drive, Fawn Circle, Timberline Place, Highland Circle, Brookside Circle, Silverado Drive, Stoneridge Circle, Fairoaks Court, Lynbrook Drive, Vintage Court. Many, many more on other streets.
The weather forecast is for partly cloudy skies and temperature in the 70's: Perfect for bargain hunting.
There are no covid restrictions, but caution is still encouraged as the omicron variant still lingers.
