Coronavirus In Newton: As Cases Slow, Deaths At 116

NEWTON, MA — So far, 116 Newton residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, according to city data this week. At least 760 residents have tested positive for the virus as of June 2. Of those, about 320, or 42 percent are people living in a long-term care or assisted living facility in the city, according to officials. Newton Wellesley Hospital reported it has treated 43 patients as of June 2 with the virus, four were in the ICU, according to state data. Of those who tested positive and are not living in a long-term care facility in Newton about 75 percent have been able to come out of isolation and are considered "recovered." "This is good news," said Mayor Ruthanne Fuller in a statement. The city's symptom onset graph shows few new cases in the past month and a bell curve since the peak in mid-April.
