Motorcyclist Crashes Into State Police Cruiser, Rider Charged With DWI

MANCHESTER, NH — A New Hampshire State Police cruiser was struck on Willow Street in Manchester just a short time after a fatal motorcycle crash happened just one block away. Manchester police, fire, and AMR ambulance responded to Hayward and Willow streets for a report of a motorcycle that struck a state police cruiser. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit was also requested to lead the investigation with Manchester police assisting. The motorcycle operator, along with the two troopers, who were in the cruiser, were transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. The troopers were evaluated and released without injury. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as William Hebert, 62, of Manchester, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police Hebert was driving east when state police accused him of failing to stop at the stop sign on Hayward Street at Willow Street and striking the side of the state police cruiser as it traveled southbound on Willow Street. Hebert was arrested at the hospital and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and operating after suspension. All aspects of the case remain under investigation.
