FARMINGDALE, NY — A student and a staff member of Farmingdale High School tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced Tuesday. Contact tracing has been completed, and all families and staff members who were directly exposed were notified and will begin their quarantines, Superintendent Paul Defendini told the community in a letter. The building is "safe" for faculty and students to return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, Defendini said. The high school's custodial team will perform extra rounds of disinfecting and sanitation in the affected areas on top of its regular regimen. "The health, safety and wellness of our students, faculty, staff and community are theFarmingdale School District's most important priority," Defendini wrote. "This will be a unique school year. We are unwavering in our commitment to maintain a safe, nurturing and successful academic environment. We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation."
