NEWTON, MA — Newton police helped authorities investigate the case of a man who was charged Wednesday with attempted enticement of a minor, U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling and Boston's Field division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Joseph Bonavolonta announced Thursday. David Cerasuolo, 47, of Plainville, was charged by criminal complaint with one count of coercion and enticement of a minor, or attempt. Following an initial appearance via videoconference in federal court in Boston, Cerasuolo was detained pending a probable cause and detention hearing scheduled for July 31. According to the criminal complaint, Cerasuolo went online to chat with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover federal agent. During their conversations, Cerasuolo attempted to entice the 13-year-old to engage in sexual activity and sent her several photographs of himself, including one of his penis. Cerasulo faces at least 10 years in prison but could face up to life in prison and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. Police in Newton, Arlington, Boston and Plainville helped with the investigation, officials said.
