Newton Police To Begin Ticketing Again For These Parking Rules

NEWTON, MA — If you've been parking without a permit on a resident parking only street when that rule was eased amid pandemic, you'll have to find a new spot to park. Beginning Monday police will resume enforcing that parking rule. In addition to ticketing anyone who doesn't have a pass to park in resident parking only parking, police will also begin ticketing anyone who overstays the one and two hour parking rules, which were also suspended amid pandemic. In mid March, shortly after the mayor declared a health emergency because of the pandemic, she also announced that a handful of parking restrictions — from meter violations, to resident parking only streets to overnight winter ban parking — would not be enforced.
