Description

Hi, I need your help. I'm looking for a basic plumber with good electrical skills and some testing equipment. This might be the perfect side job for a retired guy like myself. I've been remodeling this shell of a house, in NW Eugene 3 blocks north of Barger, for two years. I’ve been living without a kitchen the whole time. Now is the end of the line, I hope. I need a few things completed to finish the job, early this week, or ASAP. I’ll explain this in detail here. As mentioned, I need help. I'm having a “complete hip replacement surgery'' on May 5th, and I need to have a kitchen and heat in this place by May 1. This is not a money making operation; it’s low budget. Plumbing; This is what I need: 1. install hot and cold valves attached to the half inch copper stubs under the sink cabinet; this includes desoldering the existing caps and installing the new valves. The hot water valve needs to have a split for hot water to the sink and to the dishwasher. (⅜ inch) The cold water valve goes to the sink, and also needs an adapter to a 1/4 inch plastic hose that goes to the refrigerator ice maker. The cabinets are in position but I have yet to install plywood on top, then HardyBacker so I can tile it. I have the plywood for step one. I just have to cut the hole for the sink. Electrical: a guy came around and put in a new 20 amp circuit from the exterior panel and ran the 12/2 wire through outside conduit to 3 outlets: 1. the interior kitchen outlet for a microwave. 2. under sink plug in for the dishwasher, which has a circuit breaker. 3. he continued that circuit outside to the back of the house and installed an exterior plug-in, also with a circuit breaker. He screwed it up. Then he would not come back to fix it, so I need someone who can troubleshoot this and get the wiring correct. The first plug for the Microwave works but the second and third plugins do not work. From the panel, the first outlet in the kitchen is for the microwave. It works fine, but after that, the next 2 outlets do not function properly. I've tried flipping the circuit breakers and hitting the reset button on the second and third outlets, with no luck. Last, the guy installed the 110 ENVY wall heater into what is probably a 220 circuit; the new heater was turned on for about 10 minutes and melted the plastic where the heat comes out. Then he left me high and dry. I'm tired of people telling me things they can’t really do, so I need someone who will actually do the job properly. The wall heater to be installed is an Envy that gets wired directly into the wall circuit. I need someone who can wire it directly into the wiring into the 110 outlet that already exists. It could be extra money for you if you have electrical testing equipment, and can help me get a clear understanding of the circuitry in this place. It sat empty for many years. A licensed electrician came in and replaced the entire panel, but I need a better knowledge of how it's all working through the house. Here’s the basic list: 1. Troubleshoot the 20 amp circuit and get the second and third plugs working properly. 2. Make sure the dishwasher will work when plugged in under the sink. 3. Install hot and cold valves under the sink, after removing the stub caps that are soldered on. The hot valve, splits to the sink and dishwasher. The cold will split to the sink and 1/4 inch plastic hose for the refrigerator ice maker. Special valve adapter? 4. Identify the circuitry that exists in the house for the old currently existing heaters. I believe the old circuit may be 220. 5. Install a hardwired 110 ENVY heater to an existing wall plug in that is also 110. That should solve the problem and get me some heat. I do not yet have the plumbing valves purchased. Perhaps you can do that, so we can get the proper valves. The cold valve needs the special adapter to the quarter inch plastic hose for the ice maker. I'm not sure what that looks like. I Do have all the holes cut through the kitchen cabinets for the dishwasher electrical, the quarter inch plastic ice maker, the dishwasher drain hose, and the 3/8 metal water line to the dishwasher. They're all exposed under the sink next to the outlet that needs correction. This is a low-budget operation. I'm at the end of the line and just need to get this repaired so I can have water and heat before my surgery the first few days of May. I’m thinking this might take you three hours... Hopefully, right!? But whatever works is what we’ll do! Call Glenn if you’re willing to help. I can send pictures to your phone if you want more clarity. Thanks!! I can pay in cash / or the actual homeowner can pay you through PayPal or Venmo.
