STRATFORD, CT — Three more Stratford residents had died after contracting the new coronavirus, the mayor's office reported Saturday, as the number of confirmed cases in town neared 600.
As of Saturday, Stratford had 48 virus-related deaths and 583 confirmed cases, Mayor Laura Hoydick said in an email to residents.
The state reported Friday that 21 of the deceased virus patients in Stratford lived at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and that another four Lord Chamberlain residents had suffered probable deaths due to the virus.
Also Friday, the mayor's office said 58 percent of Stratford virus patients had recovered or were recovering, while 8 percent had died. As of the week of April 19, positive tests for the virus were declining, as categorized by the week the tests were administered, according to the mayor's office.
At the state level, Connecticut had its 10th consecutive day of decreasing virus hospitalizations Saturday, but also had 97 newly reported deaths. Statewide Saturday, there were 523 new confirmed cases out of 2,236 results, along with 41 less hospitalizations. There had been 29,287 cases and 2,436 deaths as of Saturday, and there were 1,551 current hospitalizations.
