Learn the basics of flower arranging with Maria of Village Grown! Sip and nibble while arranging beautiful locally grown flowers! Maria Affhalter, of Village Grown will teach participants how to make their own floral arrangements in a hands-on workshop using locally grown cut flowers from her flower farm. Learn the basics of arranging flowers in a vessel to create a unique, one of a kind floral arrangement that will be the beginning of your new obsession! This relaxing two hour workshop keeps instruction simple and fun with the goal of sending participants home with a beautiful centerpiece and the confidence to create more stunning arrangements in the future. Arranging flowers is an outstanding way to bring beauty and the natural world into your home. This design process slows you down, as flower arranging is not a race, and gives you a chance to consider, choose and create. Participants will receive handouts with basic tips of arranging, ideas for foraging greens and flowers from the landscape and encouragement (and information!) on how to grow some simple yet beautiful flowers to use in your future arrangements. The workshop cost of $95 includes all materials needed to create a beautiful arrangement, along with some nibbles and a glass of wine to encourage your design process! Maria started Village Grown, a micro flower farm, at her home in Cross Village in 2020. Her love of sharing cut garden flowers from her Northern Michigan backyard has grown into a successful niche of bouquet subscriptions, weekly farmer’s market flowers, DIY bouquet bars, business florals and small, local weddings. The goal of keeping a small, organic practice footprint for the farm makes each offering within this business special.
