STRATFORD, CT — A gymnastics school in Stratford will permanently close after nearly 50 years in business. Polly's School of Gymnastics announced Tuesday on Facebook that it would not reopen. "We have decided under the current situation, to regretfully close our gymnastics school," the Facebook post said. "Our memories of the gym, including staff, and generations of families, will always be in our thoughts and hearts." The school originally closed in March amid the rise of the coronavirus pandemic. In June, the business said on Facebook it would stay closed through the summer due to restrictions related the virus, but added that the gym planned to reopen in the fall. "The Brueggestrat and DellaGioia family would like to thank all of the wonderful families who entrusted us with their children over the last 49 years," Tuesday's Facebook post said. The school, located at 550 Ferry Blvd., will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 19 for students who need to pick up leotards, certificates and trophies.
