for all who are curious how to better practice Jesus' call to neighbor love in North Seattle among our neighbors experiencing homelessness Are you overwhelmed by the amount of need in our city? If you desire to help your neighbors experiencing homelessness , or wonder how to best interact with your unhoused neighbors you encounter in daily life.... In partnership with Sacred Streets and Mental Health Chaplaincy, this companionship workshop will offer skills to help us better love our neighbors living in circumstances of homelessness, mental illness, addictions, trauma, and isolation. Companionship is a ministry of presence, a way to offer soul care that moves from a transactional exchange model to a relational engagement model, creating space for both parties to be transformed. In the workshop we’ll go through 5 basic practices of companionship, which include: hospitality, neighboring, side-by-side, listening, and accompaniment. This training is for all who are curious how to better practice Jesus’ call to neighbor love within our communities. About Mental Health Chaplaincy: The Mental Health Chaplaincy provides a companion presence in Seattle for those living in homelessness, mental illness, addictions and trauma. About Sacred Streets: Sacred Streets is a movement of local churches to provide soul care on the streets, accompany our unhoused neighbors through significant life transitions, and offer care for those working on the front lines in social services.
