Rax King in Conversation with Hanif Abdurraqib * Please note: You must be vaccinated to attend this event. * Doors 6:30pm | Event 7pm Join us for an extra special conversation between celebrated authors and connoisseurs of culture, Rax King and Hanif Abdurraqib. RAX KING is the James Beard Award-nominated author of Tacky (Vintage 2021) and host of the podcast Low Culture Boil. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her toothless pekingese. HANIF ABDURRAQIB is a poet, essayist, and cultural critic from Columbus, Ohio. His most recent book, A Little Devil in America, was a finalist for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the The PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. The book won the 2022 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction and the Gordon Burn Prize. Hanif is a graduate of Beechcroft High School. Rax King's new book is Tacky, an irreverent and charming collection of deeply personal essays about the joys of low pop culture and bad taste, exploring coming of age in the 2000s in the age of Hot Topic, Creed, and frosted lip gloss. One more thing to note: All ticket donations go toward Rax King's travel expenses for this event.
