Description
Join us at the Building Audacity Jean Charles Academy 2022 World Fair! Founded in 2019, Building Audacity envisions freedom and power for the most marginalized individuals and communities. To achieve that vision, we empower youth to identify the changes they want to see in their communities and provide them the tools and resources to lead that change. In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Building Audacity is providing food delivery to families that have seniors as guardians of young children, live in areas of Greater Boston that have limited access to public transportation, and/or those among the uniquely abled population. This program provides support to 750 families. We survey our families regularly to determine any new needs and connect them with resources. In each survey, parents have shared that they also need academic support. Because of this, we started the Jean Charles Academy (JCA) Summer 2020 to provide remote learning and enrichment opportunities for these families. The mission of Jean Charles Academy is to provide an interdisciplinary education that will prepare students for the 21st century through an emphasis on holistic learning and critical thinking skills all within an inclusive dual language. Jean Charles Academy aims to be an independent school catered to the needs of marginalized communities. Lessons are taught in the first language of participating students. In addition, we offer a shared economy model that allows us to offer a low to no tuition program. The Summer 2020 Academy was a huge success leading to JCA now operating in Lynn as an independent school. The school provides a dual language setting and lessons are taught in both Spanish and English. The JCA staff continues to work hard to help forge an educational path towards a successful future for our children. Fundraising is an essential component to provide access to the never-ending list of items that are needed in a school setting. It is because of this that we ask your organization to sponsor our World Fair. As part of our humanities program, JCA students learn how countries operate around the world, how states are structured and who has the power to make change in their communities. Building on this knowledge, the students are given the challenge to create a state, country, or park. From creating constitutions, languages, to park slides, students will create 3D presentations of their dream world. This year’s event will take place at Olio in Peabody, Massachusetts on June 16, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm.
