Description

Recently had our house painted but the work quality was very poor so I'm looking for someone to fix what they did, and do what they skipped. Seeking an experienced painter able to scrape, palm sand, apply bondo and use caulking. I've been around the house taking photos so I can show you exactly what needs to be done. It's a 1-family with an attic, so on the front and back sides your ladder would have to go up to the 3rd floor. Around the windows, where they replaced rotting wood, the carpentry looks terrible. Sills should look like a single board. These are 2 or 3 pieces spliced together and you can spot it from 30 feet away. The surfaces aren't smooth, angles are different, and edges are inconsistent. Nailheads and indentations are visible despite the paint. (In some cases the frames boards stick out past the outer edge of the sill board, which should never happen.) Many of these replacement boards only got a single coat of paint, because they were done in the final hours of the last day. Was supposed to be 1 primer coat and 2 finish coats. Window sills: - by sanding, using putty and whatever else, get them to look like a single board - in some cases the board he used for the sill is so narrow that the frames extend out past the outer edge of the sill. Debating what to do about this. Joints: frames and corner boards - where the wood is spliced, sand and use putty/Bondo to make a smooth, inconspicuous transition - a couple of window frame verticals are so out of line it might be easier to pry them out and reset them Scrape, sand and paint: - old peeling paint in many places, needs to be scraped - edges of old paint need to be palm sanded where conspicuous - in some places there is this bizarre wood "stubble". Not sure what happened there, looks raw. Gaps, cracks and holes - fill with whatever material you think is appropriate, then paint I have a table saw on site that you are free to use. The house is white w/ gray trim. I think there's enough gray paint left but we'll probably have to buy some more white. Please let me know your hourly rate/s. - Dave
