A 12-year-old girl finds herself under the threat of violence, punishment, isolation, ignorance, and abuse for dishonoring the family. When Mahi, 12, gets a deliberately wrong message from her mother about how a woman gets pregnant, she is certain she is after taking part in an innocent love triangle. Mahi confides in her village friend, her secret quickly spreads while her parents ignore her physical and emotional changes and, ultimately, villagers assault her for dishonoring them and her family. As many women in remote parts of the world do in this kind of situation, Mahi finds herself under the threat of violence, punishment, isolation, ignorance, and abuse.
