Description
NEEDHAM, MA — Needham police and Department of Public Works crews were ready for the damage high winds might bring Monday night.
All of Southern New England was hit with a wind advisory on Monday. Forecasts predicted West winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts between 40 and 50 mph. The advisory was scheduled until 6 p.m. but Needham police and DPW crews anticipated damage cleaning taking a bit more time.
"Eversource is also expecting that some customers may experience prolonged outages," the town wrote in a Facebook post.
The town reminded residents to call police if they spot downed wires. DPW crews can't clean up downed trees on private property unless they pose a safety risk, and they can't clean up trees until downed wires are cleared first.
