STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man has been charged in connection with a September shooting, police announced Friday. Troy Lopes was arrested and charged Thursday with home invasion, first-degree burglary, interfering with an officer and criminal possession of body armor, police said in a news release. Lopes's arrest follows the arrest last month of Calvin Williams, who is also accused of being involved in the shooting, according to police. The charges against Lopes and Williams are related to an incident the evening of Sept. 3 at an address on Birch Drive, where law enforcement found a female gunshot victim, police said at the time. The victim was taken to a hospital and stabilized. When detectives tried Thursday to arrest Lopes, he fled, but was eventually taken into custody, according to the news release. A search of his home revealed he was in possession of body armor, police said. Lopes, 40, was held on a $450,000 bond and is set to appear in court Oct. 19, according to police. Williams, 31, was arrested Sept. 18 in Bridgeport with help from that city's police emergency service and gang units, law enforcement said at the time. Police found Ecstasy, ammunition and a large amount of cash when they arrested Williams, according to law enforcement. Williams is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, home invasion, first-degree threatening, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment, carrying a pistol and possession of narcotics with intent to sell, according to police. Williams remains in custody on a $500,000 bond, according to court records. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 15.
