STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man is accused of beating and sexually assaulting a woman after offering to give her a ride home, but instead took her to his home, according to the Connecticut Post. The Post reports Louis Roberts, 59, of Franklin Avenue, is accused of repeatedly punching the woman and dragging her by the hair into his home where police said he sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to get away when Roberts went into the bathroom. As officers were interviewing the victim, Roberts called police to report that a woman he had been with might falsely claim he sexually assaulted her, according to the Post. Roberts, who has 27 prior criminal convictions, was charged with first-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree sexual assault, second-degree assault, third-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and interfering with an emergency call. He was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond, according to state judicial records. Read more at the Connecticut Post here.
