STRATFORD, CT — A homeless woman is accused of robbing two banks last week in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post. Jessica Joyce, 34, was arraigned Monday, the Post reported, after she approached a teller Thursday afternoon at Peoples United Bank on Main Street and gave the person a note claiming to have a bomb in order to steal nearly $3,000 in cash. The next afternoon, a Stratford detective saw Joyce enter TD Bank on Stratford Avenue and give the teller a note, according to the Post, which reported she was then taken into custody after a short chase and found to have $500 in cash from the bank. Joyce is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree threatening, fourth-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and resisting police, according to court records. She is being held on a $250,000 bond for each of the two robberies and her next court date is Jan. 6, court records said. Read more from the Connecticut Post.
