STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford household was displaced early Thursday by an overnight fire, according to officials.
Firefighters responded about 3:30 a.m. Thursday — Thanksgiving Day — to a house in the 1900 block of Broadbridge Avenue, according to a fire department news release. When first responders arrived, they saw heavy flames at the back of the Cape Cod-style residence, officials said.
Three adults were home at the time, but safely escaped the blaze, which left the house uninhabitable, according to the news release. Emergency crews — including 25 first responders and six vehicles — brought the fire under control in less than 20 minutes, but the interior of the home still saw heavy damage, officials said.
The origin of the blaze remains under investigation, according to the news release, which confirmed the fire started on a rear porch and appears to have been accidental.
