Success Strategies for a Thriving Business If you're a new entrepreneur or seriously considering becoming one, you need to attend the Black Business Development Conference series, which kicks off on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Center for Black Innovation, 937 NW 3rd Avenue, Miami, FL 33136. The series will provide powerful business information and inspiration to new and aspiring entrepreneurs eager to step boldly into owning and operating a successful business. Bring pen, paper and a mind open to fresh wisdom and inspiration necessary to excel as an entrepreneur. “We’re convening some of South Florida’s brightest business minds to share their expertise with entrepreneurs eager to learn how to navigate entrepreneurship successfully,” said Leonce Leazard, CFBI’s Creative Manager and the organizer of the event, which will continue with workshops and additional conference installments over the next several months. The inaugural session will include Dani Spikes, Melvin Roane, Josh Numa, Kevin Michael, and Michelle Hollinger and will cover Communications, Soft Skills and Building a Strong Team, Digital Transformation, and Taming the Inner Critic. Spikes, a certified professional relationship coach, public speaker, award-winning businesswoman, and CEO of Beloved Inc., will cover communications and will teach participants to develop an effective “elevator pitch.” Roane, Managing Partner for Roane Consulting Group, will share his expertise on the soft skills effective leaders use to build and manage their team. Numa, from the Bayside Foundation of Miami, will help the group understand business credit and its relevance to building their businesses. Michael, who serves as co-founder and CEO of Invizio, a managed IT services provider, will show participants how to effectively use technology to improve the efficiency of their operation. And Michelle Hollinger, CFBI’s Program and Initiative Manager and author of Sis, You’re Worth It will help participants identify and tame the inner critic that shows up as fear, worry, and doubt when they pursue important goals like entrepreneurship. The conference is free of charge, but registration is required. Go to www.cfbi.org to register. Sponsored by City of Miami Office of Mayor Francis X. Suarez.
