STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford woman who recently tested positive for the coronavirus will be allowed to stay in her apartment — at least for a few days, according to the Connecticut Post. Instead of being evicted, Jamaira Watson will have until Wednesday to try to settle the case with her landlord, Judith Esquivel, the Post reported Friday.
Esquivel filed an eviction lawsuit in October on the grounds that she intends to use Watson's apartment on Barnum Avenue as a primary residence, which is one of the exceptions allowed under Gov. Ned Lamont's eviction moratorium, according to the Post. Watson then filed a request to stay the eviction, and said she is seriously ill with the coronavirus and that her mother, with whom she lives, is also symptomatic, the Post reported.
