Press release from the City of San Antonio: Tuesday, April 19, 2022 CONTACT: Giovanna Berrocal, 210-207-2098 [email protected] SAN ANTONIO (April 19, 2022) — The City of San Antonio's Office of Innovation has partnered with Port San Antonio, ZPryme, and the Austin Smart City Alliance to host the Texas Smart Cities Summit on April 28 and 29. The 2022 Summit will bring together dynamic leaders to better work across sectors and bridge the digital world with everyday life in cities. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from city and industry leaders across our region, and view technology demonstrations from an array of vendors and sponsors. The Summit will feature a pop-up SmartSA Sandbox event on Friday, April 29 from 3-7 p.m. "San Antonio's culture and diversity fuel our vision for innovation and the future of the City," said Brian Dillard, Chief Innovation Officer at the City of San Antonio. "With residents at the center of our work we are excited to activate space through the Smart Cities Summit to collaborate with cross sector leaders and explore emerging technology." The event will take place at the new Tech Port Center + Arena, located at Port San Antonio. The Tech Port Center + Arena is an innovation and entertainment destination where a technology museum / showroom, events arena, classrooms, a collaborative prototyping lab, and a LAN center will host an array of activities that will amplify the Port's efforts to connect people with opportunities, connect industries with educators, and connect innovators with regional, national and global markets. "Our vision for Tech Port Center + Arena is to create an innovation destination like no other: a place that connects people and ideas from throughout our community, across the nation and around the world," said Jim Perschbach, Port San Antonio President and CEO. "The Smart Cities Summit, as one of the first public events held here, perfectly captures the essence of our vision to accelerate innovation by bringing people together who are passionate about making the world a better and more productive place through the joint development and adoption of new technologies." The Smart Cities Summit features panels discussing digital equity with the City of San Antonio's Digital Inclusion Administrator Candelaria Mendoza, to securing smart cities with City of San Antonio's Chief Cybersecurity Officer Patsy Boozer. Leaders from across Texas and beyond will be in attendance and sit on a number of panels. Mayor Ron Nirenberg and District 4 Councilmember Adriana Rocha Garcia will open the summit with welcoming remarks. The Smart Cities Summit at Tech Port Center + Arena has a range of prices to meet and provide the opportunity for all to attend the summit.
