UNIONDALE, NY — The Nassau County Police Department announced Tuesday that officers found the body of another MS-13 victim buried in a shallow grave in a wooded area of Uniondale. Police say it is the sixth such body found in the county to date. According to Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, the body is that of a person who police believe went missing in 2016 or 2017. Ryder said that officers have an idea of who the victim is, but are still waiting on confirmation on the victim's identity. The remains were recovered in a wooded area of Uniondale at the east end of Hempstead Boulevard, near Uniondale High School. The wooded area there runs along the Meadowbrook State Parkway. Ryder said the remains were located about 300 yards in to the dense brush. "We will not stop pursuing those who commit crimes in our county," Ryder said. "We'll keep pushing until we put all of these savages in jail and keep them there." According to Ryder, the latest victim was found as police continued to investigate MS-13 crimes in the area. Officers went back to the woods, which they had searched before, and investigated a different area based on new information. The body was found with the help of a cadaver-sniffing dog from the New York State Police Department. Ryder said that this person is the 16th victim of MS-13 in Nassau County. Five others have been found buried in graves around the county. Bodies have been found in the Massapequa Preserve and the Roosevelt Preserve.
