Natick's Memorial Beach Open As 100-Degree Heat Approaches

NATICK, MA — Natick's main town beach has opened just in time for what may be the hottest stretch of weather we've seen so far this summer. Memorial Beach at Dug Pond opened on July 11 with some restrictions in place because of coronavirus. Beach goers must register spots at least two days in advance, which means you have to register today if you want to get a spot for Saturday. But you might want to consider waiting until Sunday, which is when temperatures will get near 100 degrees in the MetroWest area. According to the National Weather Service, the heat index will be between 95 and 100 on Sunday — but could even go above 100 on Monday. Saturday will be downright cool with highs in the low 90s. Memorial Beach is open limited hours each day — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 to 7 p.m. — so here's a list of other local beaches that will also be open this weekend: Hopkinton State Park — Beach open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pay to park: $8 for state residents, $30 for out-of-state residents. Ashland State Park — Open dawn to dusk, parking fees apply. Park grills and picnic areas are closed this summer. Lake Cochituate State Park — Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., parking fees apply. Framingham beaches — All three Framingham beaches opened this week, but you have to get a beach pass (free) before going. Wayland Town Beach — The beach has been open since the end of May, but with lots of restrictions in place. You also have to reserve a spot before going, with nonresidents getting priority. Mores Pond Beach, Wellesley — Open, but with very limited spots available.
