NATICK, MA — Partial demolition of the damaged Boden Lane Bridge has been completed. But a full demolition of the span likely won't start until mid-January, according to MassDOT. This week, commuters can expect to see MassDOT crews making preparations to build a temporary pedestrian bridge that will replace the roadway. That work will include building concrete footings. Crews have wrapped up the first phase of bridge demolition. That included removing bridge decking and moving utilities in preparation for the second phase of demolition. In January, crews will begin removing the bridge's supports. That work will coincide with a planned MBTA outage. "The schedule for the demolition of the old bridge and construction of the new temporary bridge is not definitive at this time given the emergency nature of the project, however we expect the new infrastructure to be complete and usable by pedestrians by early February, weather permitting," a MassDOT spokesperson told Patch on Monday. The bridge was damaged beyond repair on Oct. 31 by crews clearing vegetation along the MBTA tracks. The bridge has been closed ever since, but a weekday MWRTA shuttle has been ferrying commuters around the bridge to the West Natick train station.
