Boden Lane Pedestrian Bridge Opens

NATICK, MA — The Boden Lane pedestrian bridge will be open for the afternoon commute on Jan. 27, according to Natick town officials. The bridge was initially expected to open on Tuesday morning, state Rep. David Linsky, D-Natick had said on Friday. MassDOT crews began installing the temporary pedestrian bridge earlier this month, anticipating the opening to be sometime in early or mid-February. The Boden Lane bridge closed on Oct. 31 when it was damaged by crews clearing brush nearby. MWRTA has been operating a shuttle ever since, picking up commuters on the north side of the MBTA tracks and taking them all the way around via West Central Street to the West Natick commuter rail station. The MWRTA shuttle will cease to operate after Jan. 27, the MBTA said in a tweet. We are very pleased to announce that the temp pedestrian bridge on Boden Lane will be opened this afternoon. We are working with our Commonwealth partners to determine if shuttle services are available this afternoon. Once the pedestrian bridge is in place, MassDOT will begin discussions on designs for a new bridge. That work will likely begin this year.
