The Feet on the Street initiative was reportedly successful in reducing the amount of contaminated material entering recycling carts. The initiative is needed again to reduce the rising amount of contaminated material re-entering the system which is currently at 12 percent. (WOODTV.com)Grand Rapids' Bridge Street Market will stop offering customers single-use plastic bags as of Earth Day. Customers will still be able to purchase a bag at checkout but the store will no longer be providing free bags. The only exceptions are for liquor and produce due to safety measures.
