Description

NATICK, MA — Commuter rail riders should prepare to take the bus on Friday due to a planned service outage. Starting Friday morning at around 5 a.m., buses will replace all trains along the Framingham-Worcester line between Framingham and Back Bay. The MBTA has been using buses between those stops on weekends, which will last through August. The outage is happening to allow MBTA crews to continue installing positive train control (PCT) systems along the line. The outage will also allow MBTA crews to work on replacing the Bacon Street bridge near the Wellesley and Natick border. Bacon Street will remain open to cars and pedestrians during the work, according to the MBTA. During the Friday outage, buses will skip the Boston Landing and Lansdowne stops. The weekend outage skips Auburndale through Lansdowne.
