SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - The Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame has announced the Class of 2020 inductees on Friday, and among those to be chosen to receive the honor was Oakdale resident Rick Cole Jr.
Cole was among the 20 chosen to be inducted into this year's Hall of Fame, which honors people who have made substantial contributions on behalf of themselves and Suffolk County in sports.
He is currently the Vice President and Director of Athletics at Hofstra University. Before that he was Vice President of Athletics at Iona College, Vice President of Athletics at Dowling College, and senior associate athletic director for external affairs at St. John's University. He also worked as an associate athletic director for external affairs and advancement at Stony Brook University.
Cole and the other inductees will be honored in a ceremony on May 26 at Watermill Caterers in Smithtown. The Hall of Fame is celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2020.
"This is a very special year for the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame," Chris R. Vaccaro, Executive Director of the Hall said. "We are celebrating a major anniversary, while honoring an all-star induction class. These are some of the finest individuals to represent not only Suffolk County, but their respective sports and organizations at-large."
