NATICK, MA — Following Natick Town Administrator Melissa Malone's announcement on Tuesday that she will leave the job at December's end, the Select Board has revealed a plan to find her replacement.
The board on Nov. 18 will set up a search committee to screen candidates for the job, and will only consider ones from outside town government. Deputy Town Administrator for Operations Jamie Errickson may step in as an interim administrator until a replacement can be found.
"The Select Board thanks Ms. Malone for her leadership over these past few years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and its resulting impacts on the Town. Ms. Malone is grateful for her time in Natick and is committed to ensuring a smooth Town Meeting and transition in leadership," a joint statement by the board released Wednesday said.
Malone's last day will be Dec. 28, she has said.
"I am grateful for my time in Natick and committed to ensuring a smooth conclusion to Town Meeting and transition in leadership," Malone said in a statement to Patch on Tuesday.
Malone took over as administrator in June 2018. This year, she has overseen town operations during the coronavirus pandemic, and contentious budget cuts.
