Bobcat Spotted In Stamford Via Neighbors App: VIDEO

STAMFORD, CT — Over the past 45 years, bobcats have slowly made a comeback in Connecticut, and one was recently spotted in Stamford as seen in the video below from the Neighbors app. According to the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, the state's bobcat population was nearing extinction by the 1970s, but Connecticut reclassified the animal as a protected furbearer in 1972, and the number of bobcats has slowly grown ever since. Bobcats typically are found in hardwood and softwood forests in the state, and it preys on "cottontail rabbits, woodchucks, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, voles, snowshoe hares, white-tailed deer, birds, and, to a much lesser extent, insects and reptiles."
