Dads Arrested After Fight Over High School Hockey Game: Report

STAMFORD, CT — Police said the fathers of two high school goalies got into a fight after a boys ice hockey game between Westhill and Greenwich High over the weekend, the Stamford Advocate reports. The game was held Friday evening at the Terry Conners ice rink in Stamford. Police said Edward Osterhus, the father of the Westhill goalie, and Matthew Zolin, the Greenwich goalie's father, got into an argument over the net coming off its moorings during the game, the Stamford Advocate reports. They are accused of later throwing punches at each other in the parking lot, police said. Osterhus, 56, of Stamford, and Zolin, 51, of Greenwich, were both charged with third-degree assault and interfering with an officer/resisting, according to an arrest summary. Police also told the paper that a Stamford Police officer was injured while attempting to break up the fight, and the two men continued to fight even as they were being booked. Patch has reached out to Stamford Police for more information. Greenwich was ultimately victorious in Friday's game, resulting in their seventh consecutive win.
