Preventing Neck/Back Pain: Does Your Student’s Home Learning Setup Make the Grade? Chiropractor Dr. Bradley Weiss, Performance Health Center, Publishes Home Learning Tips for Families and Schools With makeshift home learning setups becoming the latest cause of discomfort, distraction, and less-than-A grades, help is on the way. Responding to teachers’ and families’ requests for a solution, Dr. Bradley (Brad) Weiss, founder and chiropractor, Performance Health Center, has published the complimentary guide, Ergonomic Tips for Remote Learning. The guide builds on the custom version he created last spring, when Pam Riddle, wellness teacher, Wayland (Mass.) Middle School approached him for advice. “Our students and teachers complained of neck, shoulder and back pain when they began remote learning. Dr. Weiss provided the guide as an ongoing resource. Our community has found it to be very beneficial,” said Ms. Riddle. The updated version, available for free to families, teachers and school systems around the country, is filled with photos, videos and advice on the right furniture, ergonomics, and stretches to keep the focus on learning. “Families will be able to develop their own creative workarounds, regardless of their home setups, after consulting the guide,” said Dr. Weiss. Ergonomic Tips for Remote Learning covers: Desk/computer setupsActive sittingUsing a laptop in the kitchen, dining room, bedroom and living roomHow to avoid “text neck”Stretches to get muscles moving and blood circulating The guide is available for download directly from the Performance Health Center homepage (performancehealthcenter.com) or download now.
