STAMFORD, CT — City officials announced Tuesday evening there have been 3,166 confirmed cases and 69 probable cases of the coronavirus in Stamford as of June 16, according to the state Department of Public Health. While that number is up from the 3,159 confirmed cases and 69 probable cases of the virus, also referred to as COVID-19, reported by the state a day prior, city officials also noted the department has been adding cases that may have been missed in previous weeks' reporting. "This may result in data 'spikes' that are not representative of new cases," officials said in the city's daily COVID-19 situation newsletter. Officials also noted the state's interactive dashboard that tracks cases and deaths across the entire state indicates Stamford has had "193 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19 cases." That number has not changed from Monday's newsletter.
