Description
EAST ISLIP, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.
East Islip resident Madeline Gaggi, a nurse at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore was nominated by her daughter, Deborah Maniscalco, as a local hero.
Here's what Maniscalco had to say about her mother:
My mom, my hero! As an essential worker Madeline has worked tirelessly and effortlessly. With a new grandson at home, she had to take all of the necessary precautions to assure her family stays safe. She immediately switched to an overnight schedule, picking up extra days every week. She was able to remain Covid free and, more importantly, keep her home Covid free. She is a true hero to us all and only deserves the best! All of the nurses and medical staff deserve vacations when this is all said and done! She is a warrior! Thanks for all that you do Madeline Gaggi!
