Boston Pride Picks Milton's Meghara McManus In NWHL Draft

MILTON, MA — The Boston Pride of the National Women's Hockey League will have a local touch from Milton when they are able to retake the ice next season after selecting Milton product Meghara McManus in the fifth round of the NWHL draft Thursday night. The Dexter Southfield School alumna scored at least 17 points in each of her four seasons at the University of New Hampshire and is coming off a senior season in which she scored 17 goals with 10 assists. "Meghara gives everything she has to the game," said UNH coach Hilary Witt, a former Canton High star. "She scores goals, blocks shots, kills penalties and sees the game really well. I am very proud of her and excited to see her succeed at the next level." "As a local kid from Milton, I always dreamed of playing in the NWHL," McManus said Thursday night on the Pride's social media account. "I want to thank the Boston Pride organization for making it come true. I hope to see everyone around the rink soon." Skating together after graduation! She three points in games against Franklin Pierce, Merrimack and Holy Cross. She was a four-year letterwinner in ice hockey, soccer at softball at Dexter and was named ice hockey Most Valuable Player as a senior. She also captained her Charles River Blazers club team that appeared in back-to-back national championship games. At UNH, she finished with 84 career points on 48 goals and 36 assists in 141 career games.
