We value diversity and support a positive and welcoming environment where all of our employees can thrive.Park Ranger performs a wide variety of tasks essential to the operation the Metro system of regional parks, nature parks and natural areas that include but are not limited to the law enforcement, construction, maintenance and repair of Metro nature parks, park facilities, natural areas, and other public areas. Park Ranger should aim to seek the best way, create connections, coordinate, conserve and enhance public recreation, events, operations, natural resource and maintenance functions. Duties depend on assigned park responsibilities as well as seasonality, programming, setting, facility and other facets of the portfolio. This position also performs public education, public safety, emergency response, volunteer services, fee collection and cash handling, sustainability and evaluation functions, and represents Metro with visitors, other agencies and the public. This position may also direct work of Park Workers and seasonal park workers.To Qualify: We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific in your application materials on how your background is relevant.Experience and Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college with major course work in parks, natural resources, education, horticulture, or forestry, ANDThree years park ranger related public recreation, maintenance, construction, operations, sustainability, and evaluation responsibilities ORAny combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.Special Requirements: A valid driver's licenseFirst Aid/CPR certification Possession of or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire a valid Oregon commercial driver's licenseAbility to obtain a Multnomah County Limited Commissioned Officer status.Successfully pass a background check.
