Coronavirus: Milton Moving To Weekly Meals-To-Go For Students

MILTON, MA — Milton Public Schools are altering their methods of delivering breakfasts and lunches to student during closures amid the coronavirus epidemic. Starting Wednesday, parents will be able to pick up five days worth of meals from two location in town for any student in need. After serving food on a daily basis beginning March 18, Milton Public Schools are moving to ways to help better fit families' schedules and lessen trips out of the home, as well as lessen contact between residents and those distributing the food. Pick up times are 8 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. at both the Tucker School and Milton High School. These five-day to-go bags contain low-sugar cereal, shelf-stable milk, sunbutter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh fruit and fresh vegetables and snack bags. Any Milton family is welcomed to pick up any bag for any food insecure student in the town. Milton Public Schools Superintendent of Schools Mary Gormley said that last week 192 breakfasts and lunches were served to town students over two days.
